If you're taller than average, or even if you're simply closer to six foot than five foot, people will notice how tall you are and you can be secure in the knowledge that your pants will always be the right length. However, something else you will be aware of at this height is how awkward it can be to ride in an ordinary car.
Whether you are driving or are a passenger, in the front or back, there is often never enough room for your arms on the arms rest, your knees are hitting the dashboard, or you have to skew your legs to the side to fit behind the console or the seat in front. Well as hard as it is to remain dignified when riding in a smaller car - a sports car for example, Shaquille O'Neal luckily has enough money to do something about it.
The former basketballer has as much extra money as he does extra height and so when he decided he wanted a Lamborghini Gallardo, he was going to make sure he was comfortable. O'Neal took his new Lamborghini to professional metal workers to have it stretched out to accommodate his seven foot, one inch height.
The stretch was completed by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters who are specialists in car customisation and aerospace fabrication. In stretching the sports car, the doors, roof and side windows where all rebuilt in extended versions to add a total of 12 inches to the car's length. The goal was to maintain the car's visual integrity, while ensuring that the stretch could accommodate Shaq's unique stature.
The result is a stretched Lamborghini which looks much the same as a standard model to the naked eye, ensuring that the Gaffoglio family don't face any of the issues the maker of the stretched Ferrari is facing, being accused of giving the luxury sports car brand a bad image.
